Pablo Sandoval benched for liking photos on Instagram during last night’s game

I sort of feel like this is the kind of thing that no one notice if he was still playing for the Giants. But Pablo Sandoval is playing for the Red Sox now and everyone’s watching everything. Including when you’re liking pretty girls’ photos on Instagram in the middle of a baseball game your team is losing.

Via CSNNE.com, we learn that Jared Carrabis of Barstool Sports figured it out last night and tweeted it around:

MLB player social media

The “like” happened at around 9:21 PM, which CSNNE.com notes would have put it at the top of the seventh inning when Rusney Castillo was at bat and Sandoval was the sixth batter due up. Sandoval admitted a little while ago that he did it while taking a bathroom break. Which, if we’re all honest, we all must admit we’ve done while on the clock.

The Red Sox learned about it today and, a few minutes ago, benched Sandoval for tonight’s game.

If you think in-game chicken and beer was bad, wait until the Boston columnists get their hands on this one. A losing team + in-game distractions from someone actually in the game + social media crap most of them don’t understand = a hilarious explosion of outrage, fake and otherwise.
