Mark Sweeney brings over two decades of professional baseball experience to Social Media Sports Management (SM2). SM2 protects and maximizes valuable sports brands through digital, social media and real-time communications strategies, coaching, education, empowerment and teams.
As a professional baseball business development and advisor for SM2, the former Major League Baseball first baseman and outfielder and current San Diego Padres analyst for FOX advises the senior teams at SM2 on relative MLB initiatives and hot-topics as well as business development partnership opportunities.
The MLB Fox Sports and FOX analyst also served as the special assistant to the Los Angeles Dodgers’ General Manager, Ned Colletti.
Born in Framingham, Massachusetts, Mr. Sweeney was drafted by the California Angels, now the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, in the 9th round of the 1991 Major League Baseball Draft. In 1995, he was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals and made his major league debut on August 4, 1995 as the Cardinals’ starting first baseman. Sweeney played for seven National League teams over a 14-year career in the majors including the San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers.
He and his wife Cindy, have two daughters Jaden and Kendall, and son Gavin.
